Course Structure

Our course has its foundation in the renowned Ballroom Dance Teachers College (BDTC) program from Diane Jarmolow.

In this course you will learn:

  • The 17 dances of the DVIDA Bronze American Syllabus for Smooth, Rhythm, and Night Club dances, and how to teach them
  • To dance as both Leader and Follower
  • Technical elements of all the dances
  • Musical elements of all the dances
  • How to teach private & group lessons
  • How to prepare for DVIDA certification

You will also learn:

  • How to choreograph for your students
  • How to teach students with different learning styles
  • How to sell dance lessons
  • How to market yourself as a professional dance teacher
  • How to nurture, support and interrelate to others

(The DVIDA syllabus is approved by the National Dance Council of America - NDCA)

The American Style Bronze teacher training program is ongoing, with new sessions starting every four months. The entire program is divided into four sections. You can complete the entire program in 16 months should you take one section at a time or you can take longer, the choice is entirely yours

There are 4 sections to this program each section is 16 weeks long:

  1. Bronze Rhythm I Section
    Learn how to dance and teach Rumba, Cha Cha, Bolero, and East Coast Swing
     
  2. Bronze Rhythm II Section
    Learn how to dance and teach Meringue, Mambo, Samba, West Coast Swing

     
  3. Bronze Smooth
    Learn how to dance and teach Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Viennese Waltz.
     
  4. Bronze Night Club Dances
    Learn how to dance and teach Salsa, Hustle, Nightclub Two-Step, Lindy Hop & Argentine Tango.

Workbooks are required for the course

Manuals are required for the course and can be purchased before the classes begins from www.dancevision.com). You will need these manuals as you progress through the program, you don't have to purchase them all at once!

Costs and Attendance

Attendance
This is a professional level course, and we cover a lot of material at a fairly fast pace. Missing class is not advised, as you can easily fall behind. If you do have to miss a class, you can generally arrange to work with one of the other students to help you catch up. You can also schedule private lessons (for an additional private lesson fee) to make up any material you miss.

Tuition
Tuition is currently $495 per month. Tuition is due the first class of each new month. Students who make a late tuition payment will be accessed a $25 late fee. Deposit of $100 is required a week before classes start to reserve a place. Tuition can be paid by check, credit card or cash.

The Foothills Dance Teachers Academy is a vocational Teacher Training Academy using the world renowned BDTC program in the California Foothills.
Steps To Dance provides Professional Ballroom Dance lessons in the California Foothills, Sonora, Angels Camp, Twain Harte and Jamestown areas as well as  Tuolumne, Calaveras and Amador Counties.
